FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN WOULD I NEED AUDIO RESTORATION?

Audio restoration is most commonly used for CD mastering, legal evidence, or to improve private recordings from the family archive. It is also frequently used in the medical profession for archiving physicians’ notes or procedures, as well as for educational purposes. Some examples of audio restoration we can do for you are listed below:

  • PERSONAL: weddings, recitals, family histories, original music
  • LEGAL: depositions, interviews, surveillance recordings
  • MEDICAL: autopsy sessions, physicians’ notes
  • EDUCATIONAL: lectures, educational materials

WHAT KINDS OF MEDIA DO WE ACCEPT?

  • Cassette tapes
  • Micro cassette tapes
  • Reel-to-reel tapes
  • 33 1/3 or 45 rpm vinyl records
  • Audio from VHS tapes
  • Compact discs
  • DVD-ROMs

We can restore your audio content into most requested formats, including CD-R and DVD-R. We can also work with you to create audio files to be used in a PowerPoint presentation or for easy access on a hard drive. Some file formats that we commonly use are WAV, MP3, AIFF, and SDII, but other formats are available. Please let us know your preference.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

We are happy to give rough estimates for work after determining the playing time and condition of your material. Estimates are not binding.

Due to the nature of audio restoration, we can never be sure what issues may appear until we hear the actual audio. If your recordings need extensive editing or repair, this will be reflected in the final price. With this in mind, please explain what the audio restoration is for and what you expect from the final product.

Please allow for return shipping charges for free estimates.
